Holiday Styling Session

It happens to be one of my favorite times of year and that isn't just because of the Holidays. It also happens to be because of the fashion that brings itself out this time of year. I love the styles and designs that are out right now. I can't put into words about how much I couldn't wait to do this blog and share my particular ideas for men and women's styling for all of the Holiday occasions that come around this time of year. So please bare with me and remember that these are my pics. I love styling and just wanted to share something that I like to do with my readers. Here we go.

Now I am going to start of with women's wear. I have been to many stores and many websites and have noticed a few of the same things this season. Bold colors, lace detailing, one shoulder, animal prints, and sequins are all that are in many of the designs. Shoes are amazing this season as well. I can't tell you how many great women's shoes I have seen that would be great with any dress that you choose. So lets get started with my picks for the ladies.

Women's Wear

Pick #1

Available at Baker's
Available at Lulu's
This short red lace detailed dress is my number one choice for any party. It is conservative enough to wear for dinner with the families and sexy enough to wear out on a date or to the clubs for their Holiday events.  This dress leaves your hair options open. Wear up in a bun or have your hair in beautiful curls. Either way it will look amazing. Accentuate the look with silver with black detailed jewelry. Perhaps a silver or gold watch to add some extra class. I can also see as an option of wearing black nylons to add an even further classy look. Pair this with some plain black sued pumps or with some cute booties. I see many combination with this. I show a black boot from Baker's to the right with a bow detail. This shoe would look great with the dress and give some extra pizazz. Other options that I would suggest a would be a regular suede red pump and or black. Either one adding the same amount of sophistication to the look.

Pick #2

Available at Lulu's
Available at Baker's Shoes
My second pick has to be this short sequined silver dress as seen below. This sassy and fun dress will liven up any party that you go to and is sure to catch eyes as you bop about. This particular dress can be paired with a few different things. I would add a touch of gold if your bold  or red jewelry. The pop of either would be great. Perhaps some earrings, a few bangals and you'll be good to go. Pair with a blazer for in between locations. Again if it is really cold you can add some leggings or nylons to the outfit to add that extra finish. As far as shoes you can go many different directions. I personally feel that because there is so much going on already with the dress that a simpler shoe would do, however I have seen these dresses done up with a busier looking shoe and it looks just as good. I really just think it is in opinion and comfortability. The three shoes that I listed below are all from Bakers Shoes. I understand that that it is definitely a little biased but it's because this place is constantly delivering the best in trends today. You will not be unsatisfied with your shoes. I have never had one of my girls complain about these their purchase. Overall this look will be a winner. It is the perfect party dress for the one who wants a stand out dress and all eyes on her. Remember it's all about the attitude and having fun with your look. Go wild and crazy and work it out!

Now it's always been a little bit harder for me style the men but I am giving my best attempt with what I know and what I have studied. I also have found that it's harder for the men to find something that has not been seen before for their holiday fashion. I truly believe that the ladies have it way easier as far as how many options that they have out there to make a great outfit no matter what the occasion. With these selections I tried to find pieces that I haven't really seen to often that would give the men something to be proud of and give that unique feel.

Men's Wear

Pick #1

Suite available at Overstock
Shoes available at Aldo's Shoes
Pick number one for the men has to be the traditional blazer, button up shirt and pants. This look no matter what the occasion is always a winner. The man who wears this will look so dapper and sophisticated among the masses. He will stand out and catch eyes through out the night. The suit that I chose to display is this two button Calvin Klein Charcoal Gray number. This suit offers the a nice clean, crisp look. The color is different than our normal suit that we might see for these occasions. I believe that we're moving passed the typical black suits and taking it to the next level with this particular color. Pair this with some dark brown or black shoes to complete this great look. The brown shoes will offset the color and provide a great contrast while black shoes will keep that classic look by keeping tones together. Either choice will make for an amazing look. Should you wear a tie? Maybe maybe not? If you are to go with the tie look I would make sure to choose bright colored tie. Perhaps red or royal blue to make it really pop. If choosing not to go with a tie make sure to not get to messy. Unbutton a few of the top shirt buttons and ad that edge. Don't forget it's the Holidays and to have some fun with it.

Pick #2

Available at Zappo's & Buckle
Available at Macy's
Pick number two for the men takes it to a more toned down level. With this look we are leaving it more comfortable while still adding that bit of sophistication. This relaxed look is my choice for my holiday party. Here we are pairing this Bar III two tones Blazer from Macy's with a black v-neck, dark denim and brown  or black boots. This look to me, is a little more fun and relaxed. It stays close to trends of this fall and winter. It like the outfit above will catch attention. I personally love the two tone. I am always a fan of anything on the shoulders. I like that it has the lighter shade of gray to offset the darker shade. The zipper pocket adds a nice touch as well. It keeps to the classic style with the two pockets on either side of the jacket and has to buttons. With this I would pair a white, black, or grey v-neck. This particular style of shirt will add the casualness to the look while still staying true to trend. I would also again pair with a more fitted pair of denim. These Rock and Revivals in the upper left have a current pocket flap with fleur de les design on them. The wash is a nice and dark with the touch of distress. Another option is these Levi's below. The wash is great. These jeans don't have the pocket flap which depending on what look you are going for may be better. Either way the jeans continue to add on to the relaxed part of this look. Now for me, I am going to add some boots. I have two different style that I am choose to show. The first is pair of brown boots made by The Cool People. These boots come in brown or black. Both colors appropriate for this look.
The second pair that I have chosen to talk about is this black pair of Steve Madden boots. These also are available in both black and brown. I really enjoy both look. The buckle feature happens to be my favorite. With these boots you can tuck your pant legs into them or wear them over. Add a Brown, Silver, or Gold watch to the equation for that touch of shine and let the outfit speak for itself.

So now that I have given a few outfit choices I hope that I was able to give some insight into holiday wear. Make sure that no matter what it is to have fun with it all. It's that season to dress and impress. Make it happen and make it work. I'm sure you all will have amazing times and I hope you found this entry at least somewhat helpful. I hope that you all have a great holiday season.

Doing My Part to Help Stop This

It breaks my heart to see things like this. I don't understand why people continue to be so cruel to one another especially kids. It's sad that kids have to go through things like this and that they have to contemplate suicide. I think that that seeing things like this help me to remember that it's important not to treat people un-kindly because you never know how they are feeling inside. Let's do out part to stop these kinds of things and to help kids like him feel the way that he should with love and support. I eager to help spread the word on anti-bullying and hope that I can convince some of you to do the same.

The Daily Love

Good morning everyone,

I sit here in Modesto, CA today. What brings me here? Well, Ted is hear on business and luckily this place has everything that I need in order to carry on my day. Very glad I took this  extra day off from work. Need a day to relax before my mini vacation is officially over. So while he's here for work I'm here to do whatever I want. I am currently sitting in Starbucks as I write.

Now I don't know how far into my blog that people have gotten but if you notice on the upper hand left side I have a section which is titled The Daily Love. This is the place that I will be placing quotes that I receive daily by an organization called, The Daily Love. I came across this website via my twitter about a year ago, and it has complete changed the way that I start my day. I signed up for the daily motivational e-mails and I absolutely love them. At the time of stumbling upon this particular website I was going through many things and this organization helped instil a realization through the words of wisdom that they share. These e-mails are filled with the amount of motivation that they withhold really has helped me re-evaluate the way that I think about things such as success, love, friendship, and failure. I have about a year and a halfs worth of these daily e-mails and go back to them often. Besides the daily quotes the creator has set up links for communication. He often asks for feedback and offers assistance for those who need an extra ear. I find them to be a great addition to my daily life, thus why I am recommending my viewers to visit their website and become a part of their e-mail list. Your life will be changed for the better. I truly believe that there people out there to help us and this particular organization is one of those things.

I hope that by me at least posting my daily quote on here that I may be able to change someones day for the better. It is my hope that by sharing this that I can do my part in touching someones life and helping them make it better than the day before. If any of you would like more information please don't hesitate to leave a comment or e-mail me. I will always have time to answer any questions that you may have.

Midtown, Sacramento

Second post of the day and ready to get my blog started.

I woke up to a very sunny crisp morning in Midtown Sacramento, California.  Midtown is serving as my destination for the next 2 days and I wanted to provide my insight on this location. Midtown offers many things to those within the Sacramento area. You have these beautiful houses that have been here for many many years a long side beautiful mature oak trees lining the neighborhood blocks as well as the shopping and dining area. This area of the Capital city provides an atmosphere a little different than your typical Downtown. This location offers things for those of us who don't necessarily want to visit the typical corporation all of the time (Nothing against corporate as I am a part of a corporate business).  I have quite the agenda today and want to warn that this particular post is a work in progress. I am going to be visiting some local hot spots and will be giving my commentary on them at the end of the day. I just felt I needed to fill some space on here and feel some accomplishment. Please bare with me as this is a complete work in progress.

Crepeville

So I must admit that my introduction to Crepeville was not today. I have been a patron of this establishment for years. Introduced in 2006 to the Davis, CA location I instantly became a fan. The atmosphere is great, the menu offers something for everybody as well as offers items at a very fair price. They have a rather large selections of beverages and even have large variety of Torani syrups available to add to your beverages. I recommend a Diet Pepsi with a pump of watermelon flavor. Don't knock it until you try it, because you will definitely be in for a surprise. As far as what to order I don't know if I can narrow it down. Everything with my experience has been great and is totally up to what you are in the mood for. For this particular visit I created my own omelet with chicken apple sausage and cheese. This option came with potatoes (THE BEST) and a choice of bagel or toast. Again all reasonably priced and totally satisfied as I always seem to be. ***Side note, all locations take cash or check only so make sure for those of you (I know this goes for me too) card only people, carry cash on your visit.

Kupros Bistro

Kupros Bistro has to be one of the hidden gems of Midtown. Kupros offers a variety of local beers on tap and a wide variety of liquors for any drink that you would like to order. Their menu offers a lot of variety as well. The setup of this particular Bistro is very unique. As you walk up the stairs of this converted 1910 Craftsman style home you walk into the the bar area of the first floor. The the bar lay in the middle of the structure made of beautiful Cheery wood offers seating all around. Along side both walls are booths for those who would like to enjoy the bar atmosphere but don't want to sit at the bar.  I must point out the actually bar lighting features. It is made of beautiful handcrafted glass panels that offer a very vintage feel. I am almost reminded of Cheers when I sat their. I also must note that the bar has been crafted from the original doors that were saved before the renovation. The second floor offers more private and intimate seating. Their are many tables to choose from. The mood lighting enhances the experience as well. Kupros would definitely be my number one choice to host my office party or launch party. The venue is spacious and offers room to support. Did I also mention the patio? The large outdoor patio area is perfect for those summer and winter nights to enjoy the crisp night and eat or drink amongst the stars. I foresee this place  becoming a huge hit in 2012. I have high hopes for this place in the future and know I will be paying this place a visit in the near future.

Mikuni, Midtown

Oh Mikuni. I must admit again that this is another place that I have frequented before. I added it to my list of destinations for the evening because I enjoy the architecture and the energy that this place has to offer. Mikuni's is located at 1530 J Street. Valet parking is offered as well. If you want sushi this is the place to come. They offer an extensive list of rolls. They have a full bar as well. There are two levels which I find really nice. The upper loft area offers a little bit more privacy to those who want to escape the larger amount of people downstairs. No matter where you sit, the energy of the place is apparent. Service is pretty quick considering the amount of people that flood the place to dine. I recommend the No. 10 and the Japanese Mafia. Both a great rolls. But please sushi enthusiasts, don't stop there. Their is something for everyone.

So dinner is done, where do you go from there? Well I recommend walking down J street. There are bars for everyone. If you travel a little further down and go to 20th and J you have reached the, "Four Corners." This is the LGBT friendly area and offers bars on all sides for  whatever your type may be. Lounge on 20 is a gorgeous upscale lounge with plenty of room and for any size party you may be with. Faces one of Sacramento's well known gay clubs is hear as well as Depot video bar as well as the more low key Head Hunters.

Midtown has everything you need for any personality that you are with. Nobody will be left unhappy. I can't wait to hit up the town tonight.

Starting Over

Ok I think that I am going to give Blogger a try. I have entries on my Wordpress website but I find Wordpress harder to use. It is not very first time user friendly and I have become easily frustrated with it. The things I want to do seem very easy on here. Thus I will be placing my posts from my wordpress to here. Please bare with me. Everything will be up here asap.
